E3 2011 Review

So this years Electronic Entertainment Expo has come and gone. In short, oldschewl is impressed with the ambition of the developers that were put on display this year. We are not entirely sure many of the ideas are going to pan out the way they think they are, regardless of what level of ambition they are on, but they have to be given credit for pushing new concepts and seeing if they can capture new markets.

The E3 Predicitions

Seems that everyone in the technology/video game industry media world is trying to second guess what is and is not going to happen at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo (a.k.a. E3). And these prophecies come in every flavor this year thanks to the last few months being a very heavy video game news set of months. From jaded predictions that Sony Entertainment is going to gloss over their recent issues on the Playstation Network and upset everyone who is still crying and looking for handouts, to edge-of-the-seat riding enthusiasm from people looking to hear news about their anticipated video game in development (I'm looking at you SWTOR community), E3 maybe the most overexamined event this side of U.S. NFL drafts.

oldschewl and Flooding

"So how about that weather?"

So far 2011 has been a whopper of a weather year. Hundreds dead, millions in damages, years of work restoring communities, and we are just now into the season where this sort of thing happens in the U.S. oldschewl's office even faced it's own near-miss with severe flooding outside that completely swallowed a nearby parking lot and the main street just down the road, with water blowing manhole covers off and erupting in four to eight foot tall jets of water. And all of this before the mid-to-late summer hurricane season in the U.S. (I have not yet heard predictions on how bad it may or may not be).

oldschewl's contributors would like to apologize for our hiatus thanks to real life jabbing it's hand into the way for a brief moment. oldschewl would also like to send our "Zen Regards" to all those effected by the recent and extremely violent weather we have experienced as a nation. It will be years of rebuilding for some; it will be a lifetime of change and getting along after tragedy reshaped their lives.

The writing shall now resume.

DFO Video: Witches Everywhere!

Spamming ensues when BT, Opal, and kTwn all drag out witches for a run in Shadow Thunderlands, a proving grounds instance in Dungeon Fighter Online by Nexon. Not the full run, only turned on the video once we figured out the spamming looked pretty funny.

LOL @ Forza Designers

Im getting into designing car paint jobs and vinyl sets on Forza Motorsports 3, which we gave our applauds last article. As a passingly decent artist I love the depth of customization offered by the "vinyl groups" that you can create in game. Getting excited to create things only gets encouraged by seeing what so many have done already in the game (and getting ready for Forza 4, which I plan to be part of from Day 1).

While going through different vinyl sets I obviously came across some that have little grey locks on them, and some that do not. And into investigating what those meant I discovered that "locking" the designs prevents other players from using the vinyl sets in any manner and then putting it up in their own storefront for others to see/use/buy. And it is to those people I must introduce oldschewl's newest kind of article ... Laughing Out Loud @ Others.
